Manchester Airport: Man arrested after ‘stowaway’ incident

Must read

Police have made an arrest following reports of a “stowaway” incident on board an aircraft.

A man had reportedly boarded a flight from Manchester Airport without the correct documents, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

It happened at about 19:00 BST on Friday.

The incident, on an EasyJet flight, is not believed to be terror-related, with nothing suspicious found on board, a GMP spokesperson said.

The BBC has approached EasyJet for comment.

All passengers on board the flight had to disembark, with their luggage returned to them, but the flight was able to take off later, the BBC understands.

A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of hiding themselves with the purpose of “being carried in an aircraft without consent and intentionally or recklessly causing public nuisance”, GMP said.

He remains in police custody for questioning, the force added.
