Chris McCausland is continuing to win over Strictly Come Dancing viewers with his extraordinary routines, blowing many away with his best dance yet this week.

This week saw the competitors taking on Movie Week, in which every routine drew inspiration from a musical moment in a movie.

Chris and his partner Dianne Buswell transformed into Garth and Wayne from the hit 1992 film Wayne’s world to dance the jive that left the judges and the crowd cheering wildly.

The judges were generous with their comments, with Shirley saying: ‘I’m impressed, timing was spot-on,’ and Shirley agreeing, ‘unbelievable musicality, lovely footwork and very good jive action.’

The dance brought the pair their highest score so far with an impressive 7, 7, 8, 8 for a total of 30 points.

In 2024, Strictly Come Dancing introduced audio description as well as live signing and subtitling, and Chris is the competitions first blind competitor as he lost his sight aged 22 after a devastating diagnosis.

Fans were beside themselves with enthusiasm after the jive, flooding social media with emotional praise.

@mja_owl was blown away by Chris’s performance, tweeting, ‘Unbelievable, staggering, Chris is truly amazing, how does Dianne teach him. Incredible #strictlycomedancing.’

Echoing the surprise, @HelenAPat shared her reaction: ‘I’m actually quite stunned by Chris McCausland #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing.’

Many fans commented on the emotional connection the pair brings to their routines, with @SimbaSteph calling their performance ‘phenomenal.’ She added, ‘#ChrisAndDianne are just phenomenal on #Strictly tonight. Outstanding!’

Others shared similar sentiments about the emotional impact of Chris and Dianne’s performance. @TVqueertiques wrote, ‘Chris & Dianne make me so emotional every week, watching them is such a joy!!! The winners already #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing.’

Admiration for their partnership was a common theme, with @busydawn praising both the teacher and the student. ‘I am still filled with admiration for @dbuzz6589 and @chrismccausland. They just seem to get better each week. Brilliant teaching & learning, so entertaining. I do hope they win. #strictlycomedancing,’ she posted.

@LisaPatten1 posted, ‘I couldn’t do those steps and I can see what those steps are supposed to look like, honestly, Chris McCausland is bloody brilliant and Dianne is so talented. #ChrisAndDianne #Strictly #Strictly2024 #StrictlyComeDancing.’

@TellyStats noted, ‘Just when I thought the routine was ending, they kept going. Chris absolutely smashed it, loved the stuff in and out of hold. Really fun routine, I can not believe he can do this without his sense of sight…Amazing.’

@Lavaniya85 captured the general feeling of admiration, writing, ‘Chris is amaaaaaaaazing!!! The commitment he must have to make to dance… let alone with this… in time with Diane. Wooooow. Diane as a teacher amazing. Going to use this as an emotional button when I need inspiration! Legends! #Strictlycomedancing.’

It’s been an exciting season so far, with Diver Tom Dean became the first contestant to be given the boot on Saturday, with Toyah Wilcox managing to save herself in the dance off.

Even more dramatically, Nick Knowles has been forced to drop out with his second injury this series.

But amid it all, Chris’ inspirational story and obvious talent remain a bright spot in the series.
