While Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the best RPGs of all time, the game spent years in early access before its full release. Over the years, multiple parts of the game were cut and changed, but fans are now bringing back scrapped elements in new mods.

With cracked mod tools now allowing for proper level creation, fans can now create entire levels within the RPG. Alongside amazing mods that add functional Pokeballs to the game or overhauling graphics, players are now reintroducing content that was removed from the game.

Play Baldur’s Gate 3 cut content

Released by modder DarthRen on Nexus, the new Cut Content Restored mod is part one of an attempt to bring back all cut early access gameplay to the RPG. In this first release, players can now explore removed areas from the Baldur’s Gate 3 tutorial level: The Nautiloid.

With the mod, players can now freely explore the upper deck of the nautiloid ship that was sadly removed from the game’s 1.0 release for the sake of pacing. The modder revealed that the cut area is technically a new map accessible via a new platform as they can’t modify the actual released map yet.

Alongside the new area, players can also encounter a cut NPC. However, the current version of the NPC doesn’t have any spoken dialogue as the full sounds have not been found entirely in great quality.

In Early Access, players could explore the upper deck of The Nautiloid.

A lovely bit of preservation

While the final version of Baldur’s Gate 3 is brilliant, the game did cut away some of the game’s exploration. Areas like the expanded Nautiloid did add more openness to the game early on, but they did make some places drag on longer than they do in the final version.

Nevertheless, some players who experienced the early access version of the beloved RPG have wished to re-experience removed areas. In the comments for the new modification’s Nexus Mods page, multiple fans are in love with the re-introduction of the scrapped content.

“I get why they removed it to speed up time spent there but I miss having extra places to roam,” one player said. “It would be nice to restore some of the other things they cut like the sailors charmed by the Mind Flayer.”

“I love the mod. I remember this area from ea and thought it was some kind of Mandela Effect once the game launched,” another player said. “Really wish that the dev team kept this. What a weird decision. Thank you for this restore,” said a third.

Unfortunately, this mod is only available on PC, despite the addition of console mods in Patch 7. Nevertheless, it is amazing to see scrapped Baldur’s Gate 3 content coming back to the game for fans to experience who didn’t get to play during its early access period.
