Royal Slip-Up! Buckingham Palace Makes Mistake with Princess Beatrice’s Pregnancy Announcement

Must read

Princess Beatrice‘s pregnancy announcement via Buckingham Palace featured a rare typo!

On Oct. 1, King Charles‘ team announced on social media that Princess Beatrice, 36, and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are expecting their second baby together. The couple married in July 2020 and share daughter Sienna, 2, and son Christopher Woolf, 8, Edo’s son from a previous relationship.

According to Hello!, Buckingham Palace deleted their initial post on X because of a minor typo. Screenshots obtained by Hello! show that Princess Beatrice was initially referenced as “Her Royal Highes,” an incorrect spelling of her Her Royal Highness (HRH) title.

The corrected palace statement said, “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together early in the new year; a sibling for Wolfie and Sienna.”

“His Majesty The King has been informed and both families are delighted with the news,” the statement added.

The news came with two new photos of Princess Beatrice’s family. The first shot showed Beatrice and Edo, 40, sharing a hug in casual clothes. Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson‘s daughter smiled at the camera, her hair pushed back with a red velvet headband, while her husband of four years, clad in a black baseball cap, looked at her with love.

The second image offered a rare glimpse of Beatrice and Edo’s dynamic with their kids. The photo, taken from behind, showed Edo holding hands and walking in the woods with Sienna and Wolfie. The dad and his kids were all dressed in rain gear, and the snap doubled as the first picture that the palace has ever shared of Sienna.

Princess Beatrice doesn’t maintain a public social media presence, and she and her husband have not shown their daughter’s face online. However, Edo has previously posted Sienna’s photo from behind, as has Beatrice’s mother, the Duchess of York, and sister, Princess Eugenie.

Speaking to PEOPLE on Sept. 25 at the launch of the Youth Impact Council during New York Climate Week, the Duchess of York, who is popularly known as Fergie, says that she is always learning from the next generation — including her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, 34.

“It’s almost, this is the university of life for me to be learning from young people that are actually out there doing the work. It’s like Beatrice and Eugenie are out there doing the work. Eugenie does a lot with The Anti-Slavery Collective, Beatrice does an enormous amount in technology and with dyslexia and really believes in humanity in the workplace, with compassion,” the Duchess of York says about some of the causes her children champion.

“I believe that all those values, I was able to help guide them into this place they are, is what I’m going to bring to the youth leaders of Gen Z,” adds the Duchess, who has a proud new role as Founding Ambassador of the Youth Impact Council.
