Strictly Come Dancing star Nick Knowles has offered a health update following an injury he sustained to his arm.

The presenter, best known for his role on DIY SOS, is participating in the 22nd season of the BBC show, making his debut on the dancefloor on Saturday (September 21) as he took to the floor alongside professional partner Luba Mushtuk.

Earlier today (September 23), Knowles shared via social media that he had suffered an injury to his arm and shoulder over the weekend, adding that he was on his way to hospital with his arm in a sling.

Following his trip to hospital, Knowles – who was still wearing the sling – and Luba appeared opposite Janette Manrara on Strictly: It Takes Two, with the presenter detailing how the injury occurred in addition to his progress.

“We broke down on the motorway with a flat tyre and it was raining heavily so I wanted to change the tyre quickly,” he recalled. “But as I took the tyre off, I damaged my bicep and my arm. It got worse and worse and worse.

“I’m hopeful I can dance next Saturday. I’ll find out more tomorrow but I’m fully expecting to go into training and being able to dance at the weekend,” he added, with Janette praising his “fighting spirit”.

Knowles, who has also appeared on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, shared in his social media post that he was heading to training following the scan, adding: “Not ideal but I’m convinced it’s not something that’s going to stop me dancing this week.”

Knowles and Luba found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday, scoring 18 points from the judges for the jive. JB Gill found himself at the top with 31 points, with Tasha Ghouri and Sarah Hadland following close behind with 30 points.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
