I was the DJ at Joshua v Dubois and want to correct everyone over Liam Gallagher

An English DJ has leapt to the defence of Liam Gallagher amid criticism of his Wembley performance on Saturday.

Gallagher provided the pre-fight entertainment for 98,000 boxing fans ahead of Daniel Dubois‘ stunning knockout victory over Anthony Joshua.

Some fans speculated Liam would be joined on stage by his brother Noel given Oasis‘ confirmed reunion tour next year.

But it was not to be as Gallagher performed ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Star’, ‘Supersonic’ and ‘Cigarettes and Alcohol’.

However, social media lit up with many fans calling out Gallagher’s performance as some joked they’d be putting their Oasis tickets up for sale.

Gallagher clapped back at his critics on social media the following day.

“To all those s******** who were crying about my ANGELIC TONES last night you ain’t real fans your just IMPOSTERS and if you do have tickets you wanna get rid off (sic) I’ll gladly take them off your hands we don’t want the likes of you at our concerts nxt (sic) year any way”, Gallagher wrote on X.

TalkSPORT host and DJ Majestic, real name Kevin Christie, has now come out in defence of Gallagher, pointing out the difference in sound quality between hearing the set on TV and being at the venue as an explanation.

“Well, this is it,” Majestic said on talkSPORT’s Final Word on Sunday.

“He was, of course, performing at Wembley last night. He performed a three-track set.

“I was privileged enough to be there at sound check, so I got like a private Liam Gallagher show, which was amazing.”

Co-host and former Newcastle manager Alan Pardew asked what Majestic thought of Gallagher’s performance.

Majestic replied: “I don’t understand what the criticism is for? He’s Liam Gallagher, that’s what Liam does. It’s brilliant.

“If you’re an Oasis fan and a Liam Gallagher fan, you loved it, and I loved it.”

Pardew added there was ‘some suggestion the quality wasn’t as good’, but Majestic explained why that would be the case when listening to Gallagher’s set outside of the venue.

“I think it gets lost sometimes,” Majestic said.

“Especially if you’re watching it on TV and I don’t know how the sound feed is.”

Gallagher’s brief set was the precursor to a phenomenal performance from Dubois as he knocked Joshua out in the fifth round of their epic heavyweight showdown at Wembley.

Dubois, who went into the fight as an underdog, dropped Joshua in the first round and never let up as the likes of Tyson Fury, Conor McGregor and Terence Crawford all took in the action from ringside.

The 27-year-old’s victory now has him on a collision course to face the winner of Fury and Oleksandr Usyk as the duo continue to prepare for their rematch in December.

Dubois has not fought Fury and has already been beaten by Usyk as the Ukrainian earned a stoppage victory in August last year.
