Beloved UK TV icon officiates at wedding of Björn Ulvaeus, 79, to third wife

Abba’s Björn Ulvaeus has tied the knot for the third time with Christina Sas and former Great British Bake Off star Sandi Toksvig officiated the ceremony!

Abba legend Björn- revealed he tied the knot on Saturday in an ‘extra special’ ceremony as he married his girlfriend Christina, 51, after two years of dating.

A post on social media showed highlights from the special occasion, showcasing the relaxed outdoors event.

‘Today on the 21st of September 2024, Björn Ulvaeus married Christina Sas from Herning, Denmark,’ the caption on social media read.

‘They met in Nürnberg in 2021 in connection with the release of ABBA’s last album Voyage and started dating in the spring of 2022. The wedding took place in Copenhagen in the presence of close friends and family.  

‘Sandi Toksvig, Anne Linnet and Kaya Brüel generously performed and made the evening extra special.’

Sandi is from Copenhagen and is a Danish-British broadcaster best known for her work hosting QI, The News Quiz, The Great British Bake Off, and several panel shows.

It is thought that the 66-year-old presenter became friends with Björn after the pair collaborated on Mamma Mia: The Party! in 2018.

The Swedish musician married Abba bandmate Agnetha Fältskog in 1971. The pair had two children, Linda, 49, and Peter, 44, before divorcing in 1980

The year after his first divorce, in January 1981, the singer married music journalist Lena Källersjö. The couple had two children together, Emma, 42, and Anna, 38, and were together for decades until they announced their separation in February 2022.

Announcing their split the couple said in a statement: ‘After many wonderful and eventful years, we have decided to go our separate ways. 

‘We remain close friends and will continue to celebrate our grandchildren’s birthdays and other family holidays together.’ 

It was also revealed the couple split their £100million assets equally.

Speaking about his sex life in a 2020 interview with The Guardian, the singer said: ‘I’m 75 and I can’t manage more than four times a week.’

He also described the feeling of love and said: ‘It’s a calm and secure feeling of deep loyalty.’

He also said that ‘love’ was his favourite word when asked. ‘I suspect it could be “love”, despite its drawbacks in the rhyming department,’ he said.
