The first trailer for Blitz, a World War Two film shot by director Sir Steve McQueen, gives a glimpse of how locations in Hull were used to stand in for 1940s London.
The film tells the story of George, played by Elliott Heffernan, a defiant nine-year-old boy, and his mother Rita (Saoirse Ronan), who tries to send him to safety.
Filming took place in February 2023, when Hull locations were transformed with vintage red buses, 1940s posters and period street furniture.
Parts of the Old Town and Paragon railway station can be seen in the trailer.
The city has earned the nickname “Hullywood” in recent years, after productions including The Crown and Enola Holmes 2 employed locations such as High Street and Queen Victoria Square.
Blitz also used extras and actors from East Yorkshire.
Sir Steve’s previous films include 12 Years a Slave, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture, and Occupied City, a documentary about Amsterdam during the Nazi occupation.
Blitz will premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on 9 October, before appearing in cinemas on 1 November.
It will be available to stream on Apple TV from 22 November.
