North Korea has released photographs of its nuclear bomb factory, displaying unexpectedly advanced technology that may mean that it has more warheads than previously believed.
State media published photographs of the supreme leader Kim Jong-un visiting a facility containing centrifuges, the apparatus that enriches uranium into a form capable of being used as an ingredient of nuclear weapons.
Kim promised to “further augment the number of centrifuges in order to exponentially increase the nuclear weapons for self-defence true to the party’s line of building up nuclear armed forces”, according to the Korean Central News Agency. He said the country must “bolster up its defence capability for self-defence and the capability for a pre-emptive attack with the nuclear force”.
