iPhone 16 charges faster than Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6

Must read

Earlier this week, Apple launched the iPhone 16 series. One of the new features these devices offer that the company is highlighting is support for 25W wireless charging over MagSafe, which is 10W higher than the iPhone 15 series models. What the tech giant isn’t highlighting is that these phones also support 45W wired charging, which is 16W higher than the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

More importantly, that’s the same charging speed the Galaxy S24 Ultra offers and 20W higher than Samsung’s other flagship phones, including the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Even Apple catching up with or going past Samsung shows that the South Korean tech giant isn’t making enough improvements in the charging speed department.

Apple catching up with Samsung shows that it is time for the South Korean tech giant to wake up

China’s Quality Certification Centre has certified the iPhone 16 series devices. According to their listings, they support 45W charging at 15Vx3A power specification.

Usually, Apple is very slow at adapting new features or improving the specifications of a certain aspect of a smartphone. Even after traveling at a snail’s pace, the Cupertino-based tech giant has finally caught up with Samsung in terms of charging speed. It shows that the South Korean tech giant hasn’t been making enough strides to improve the charging speed of its flagship smartphones and it is time for the company to make a significant move.

It is worth mentioning that Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will also feature the same charging specification as iPhone 16 series devices (15Vx3A), which is different from what the company’s current flagship smartphone supports (11Vx4.05A). We are eager to know if this change will improve the charging speed. It will also be interesting to see the amount of time the new iPhones take to charge from 0% to 100%.
