Must read

Princess Kate delivered a message to cancer sufferers around the world in her latest health update, according to former royal butler Grant Harrold.

Speaking on GB News, Harrold said the video message confirming Kate has finished her chemotherapy treatment was “very unusual” and “unlike anything we’ve seen before”.

“I honestly believe that what she is trying to say is, she wants other people that are suffering with cancer to know that she is there to support them”, he said.

“She’s there to say that she can look them in the eyes and say ‘I’ve been there, I’ve done it, I’m getting through it’.

Harrold praised the couple’s decision to put the video out, saying it is “very much a reflection of them”.

“The late Queen always said that ‘duty came before everything’”, he said.

“This is a very different Royal Family. I am not saying that duty is not very important to them.

“But as Catherine has said herself, her family, her health, that is what’s coming first and quite rightly. It’s what should come first.”

In the video, Kate delivers a heartfelt message about her cancer journey alongside images showing the Waleses and their children enjoying the outdoors during a recent trip to Norfolk.

She describes a tumultuous period where she has suffered from serious health issues, saying the cancer journey is “complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone”.

The King and Queen are understood to feel the princess’ announcement is wonderful news and continue to offer their love and support.

In the video, Kate says: “Doing what I can to stay cancer-free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.

“I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can.

“Despite all that has gone before, I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life.”
