If you’ve spent all weekend long blissfully jumping about in Astro Bot on PS5, then you’ll be glad to know it looks like more cameo bots could be coming to the game sooner or later. Analysed by VGC, several franchises not included in the base game are credited during the closing sequence, which seems noteworthy.
As the credits roll, Team Asobi thanks the publishers and third-party developers that contributed characters and IP to the title, but it’s those that didn’t that have raised eyebrows. For example, Ubisoft gets three separate shouts (Assassin’s Creed, Beyond Good & Evil, and Rayman) despite those series’ not being referenced in the game.
Iconic platformer Croc and unrivalled strategy series Worms are also mentioned, in addition to the much more recent Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin. It is certainly possible that Asobi got the go-ahead to use these IPs but changed plans later in development; regardless, we’ll be keeping both eyes peeled for that Eve Bot as often as we can spare them.
