Eamonn Holmes is taking his relationship with Katie Alexander to the next level, reportedly leaving his ex-wife Ruth Langsford stunned.
The GB News presenter, 64, is whisking 42-year-old Katie away on a luxurious Mediterranean holiday. Sources claim that Ruth, 64, and her pals are “gobsmacked” by Eamonn’s planned romantic trip with his new partner.
The former This Morning presenters were married for 14 years before announcing their split in May. Eamonn has now moved on with relationship counsellor and fellow divorcee Katie.
A source told The Sun about the couple’s luxe plans, saying: “The cruise is just the latest proof of their closeness. Katie has been telling pals she and Eamonn are going to be for keeps – and now everyone is starting to believe her.”
Eamonn’s commitment to his new relationship has allegedly caught Ruth and her friends off-guard. The source added: “Eamonn’s zest for her – the latest being this all-expenses-paid trip – has wowed Ruth and pals. He has found a new lease of life for sure. Everyone is amazed.”
It comes after Ruth gave a rare update on their divorce as she clapped back at a troll who questioned why she was still wearing her wedding ring.
Ruth took to Instagram to share a video of her preparing her meals for the upcoming week. In the clip, Ruth’s wedding ring could be seen on her finger, leading one person to remark: “Why has she still got her wedding rings on?”
Another echoed: “Why you still got your wedding ring on?” In a rare comment about her separation from Eamonn, Ruth defiantly replied: “Because I’m still married.”
A spokesperson for the couple announced their separation in a statement, saying: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”
It was reported at the time that Eamonn and Ruth had been “living separate lives” for two years after their marriage deteriorated following their exit from This Morning.
During their 22-year relationship, they welcomed a son named Jack, born in 2002. Ruth has not discussed the split publicly, but Eamonn took time out of his GB News show to thank fans for their support shortly after the statement was released.
He said: “Just before we move on we’d just like to thank people for your support for Ruth and I over the last few days as to the news of our separation. Your support for both of us is very much appreciated.”
