It has been a turbulent time to be a Helldivers 2 player over these past few weeks since Sony first announced that all PC players would be required to link a PSN account to Steam. Following the backlash, which led to Sony reversing this decision, the game was delisted in 180 countries across the world and since then there has been no change and the majority of the world has been cut off from one of the biggest games of the year.

Despite the backlash from the PC community, Sony has decided to press ahead with its PSN requirements, with the publisher adding it to the recently released Ghost of Tsushima PC port, leading to the game being review bombed upon release. However, there looks to be movement now as the first countries have had their restrictions removed, which is the first positive step to making the game accessible to all players once again.

According to a change log on Steamdb, Helldivers 2 has had its restrictions removed in American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is worth noting that all of these countries are territories of the United States so that may be a reason why. But, it is still great news as it is the first step to getting players across the world back playing the game.

This comes at a perfect time as the Helldivers recently failed two Major Orders in a row and we can’t afford to lose a third. The current Major Order calls for the defense of four planets, so having some extra teammates will be a good thing.
