The daughter of a husband on trial in France for inviting dozens of men to rape his sedated and unconscious wife has called for health professionals to be alerted to the signs of abuse through “chemical submission”.
Caroline Darian, 45, who is attending the trial of Dominique Pélicot in Avignon, said she had learnt that his methodical drugging and sexual abuse of her mother Gisèle over a decade was not an isolated activity. “These are practices that really are being carried out inside families,” she told Europe 1 radio.
In a case that has shocked France, Pélicot, 71, a former electrician, is on trial along with 50 men who are accused of raping his wife while he filmed them from 2011-2020. He has admitted guilt,
