Must read

Cole Palmer has won the Premier League’s Hublot Young Player of the Season Award after an outstanding first season at Chelsea.

After signing from Manchester City on deadline day, Palmer has consistently produced performances of the highest quality during his maiden year in Blue.

The England international has scored 22 times in the league to date and has 10 assists, meaning he has 32 Premier League goal involvements in just 33 appearances this season.

The form of the 22-year-old midfielder means he is currently second in the rankings for goals and assists in the Premier League this season, with just one game remaining.

Palmer is the only Chelsea to player to have claimed the award since it was first given out following the 2019/20 season, when Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold lifted the trophy.

Prior to his recent 22nd birthday, Palmer became only the third player in Premier League history to reach 30-plus goal involvements in a single season while aged 21 or younger.

The forward also matched Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard’s Chelsea record of 16 home Premier League goals in a season, with highlights including a four-goal haul against Everton and a dramatic hat-trick in our win over Manchester United.

Palmer fought off fierce competition to claim the title, with Manchester City duo Phil Foden and Erling Haaland, Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo, Arsenal pair Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, plus Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie also on the shortlist.

Congratulations, Cole!
