Barry Keoghan Joins Cillian Murphy & Rebecca Ferguson In ‘Peaky Blinders’ Movie At Netflix

Must read

EXCLUSIVE: The Banshees of Inisherin Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan has joined the cast of Netflix’s Peaky Blinders feature. The Saltburn actor is the latest high-profile name set opposite star Cillian Murphy in the Tom Harper-directed film. Last month, Deadline exclusively revealed that Rebecca Ferguson also is aboard

Similar to Ferguson, details of Keoghan’s role are being kept under wraps.

As Deadline previously reported, Netflix greenlighted the Peaky feature in June with Oppenheimer Oscar winner Murphy in a return to the iconic role of Tommy Shelby, leader of the eponymous Birmingham gangster family.

The epic continuation of the multi-award-winning saga has been written by the show’s creator, Steven Knight. He will produce alongside Caryn Mandabach, Murphy and Guy Heeley. Exec producers include Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren and David Mason. The movie will be made in association with BBC Film.

While plot details are also being held close to the vest, Knight has previously told Deadline that a movie story would be set during World War II. Production is expected to begin this year.

Keoghan, who received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination and won the BAFTA in that category for Martin McDonagh’s 2022 hit The Banshees of Inisherin, last year starred in Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn, for which he received BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations and spent time on the awards season trail with Murphy. He already has had a busy 2024, starting with Apple TV+ limited series Masters of the Air. On the feature side, he starred in Andrea Arnold’s Bird, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

He’s next up in Bring Them Down, which will premiere at TIFF on September 9. He also has the untitled film from Trey Edward Shults on deck, alongside the Weekend and Jenna Ortega, and is in negotiations to join Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo in Amazon MGM Studios adaptation of Don Winslow’s novella Crime 101.

Keoghan is repped by WME, B-Side Management, Entertainment 360 and Sloane Offer.
