Aisling Bea announces arrival of first child with light-hearted review of pregnancy

Comedian Aisling Bea has announced the arrival of her first child with partner, Jack Freeman.

The Kildare woman took to her Instagram account to make the announcement, rating the pregnancy one star.

Bea shared a number of photos of her bump alongside a “review” of her experience.

Among the negatives of the pregnancy were: “Left feeling very unrested. Not as described online or in pictures. Reminded me of the Glasgow Willie Wonka experience. Towards the end of my stay I was repeatedly kicked in the nuts.”

Bea also mentioned UTIs, bleeding, depression, cramps, insomnia, nosebleeds, sinus blockage, migraines, vomiting, being randomly touched by people without asking, organs moving, skin stretching and more.

The positives, however, included baths being quite nice, receiving help from others with her bags and a man working at a nearby kebab shop providing free extra chips and “quite a flirty wink”.

At the end of the photo dump was a selfie of Bea with her new arrival, which she, of course, included in the “positive” section of her caption. She wrote: “Was given a little gift at check out which is, admittedly, quite cute.”

The 40-year-old, who is known for the comedy shows This Way Up and Living With Yourself alongside Paul Rudd, has reportedly been in a relationship with London-based composer, musician and producer Jack Freeman for nearly two years.

She enlisted the likes of US singer Sheryl Crow, comedian Seth Herzog, actor Paul Rudd and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce to help her announce her pregnancy back in June, sharing photos of herself with a face drawn on her bump on Instagram.

Bea thanked Crow, who she described as an “angel” for allowing her to debut her bump in the “most dignified and classy way possible” as she appeared as a backing dancer at charity event Big Slick Celebrity Weekend alongside Herzog.

“Sheryl said myself and Seth could be her very professional back up dancers with our ridiculous idea, how on brand! She really does just wanna have some fun, yawl,” Bea said.

She joked: “Just to note if you use sharpie pen on your skin, it will be there for about two days. Just if you are weighing up what a commitment to an idea is worth. Gentle dermatitis is the answer.”

Bea later confirmed: “Yes I am pregnant, this time it’s not a joke about bread” – referencing a social media post in 2021 which saw the comedian share a photograph of her bloated stomach which led to pregnancy speculation.
