Nicki Minaj has found herself in a legal battle with a fan after she publicly questioned his mental stability and branded him a stalker.
The Super Freaky Girl singer, 41, born Onika Tanya Maraj, is known for her outspoken attitude and often finds herself at the centre of celebrity feuds, including with Megan The Stallion.
Now, the star, who has 28.1 million followers on X and another 228 million on Instagram, has come under fire from a disgruntled fan who filed a lawsuit against her in L.A. Superior Court, claiming she is a bully.
In his lawsuit, Tameer Peak claims that for the past 15 years, he has been one of Nicki’s most dedicated followers and insisted he aided in the promotion of Pink Friday 2, her most recent album.
Documents obtained by TMZ show the fan claims that despite his dedication to Nicki and her career’s success, things took a turn in 2017 when fans started turning against her in what was known as the ‘Nicki hate train’.
At the time of the drama, the Trinidadian-born rapper quickly began turning against her fans, with Tameer claiming he was just one of the many she accused of being a mole paid to sabotage her.
The fan reportedly stated in the court documents that Nicki ridiculed him on multiple occasions, including once when she allegedly invited him to her hotel, only to embarrass him on Instagram.
Another alleged instance of mistreatment reportedly came in 2020 during Super Bowl weekend, with Tameer claiming Nicki’s husband, Kenneth Petty, battered him.
The most recent occasion listed in the legal filing was just this year. Tameer said he received messages from people close to the mother of one, claiming he was harming her reputation among fans and that she wanted him to ‘stop saying dumb s**t’ about her.
It’s unclear exactly what Tameer had allegedly been saying about Nicki.
Elsewhere, Tameer referenced a live the Barbie World singer did on X (formerly Twitter), stating that she took aim at him and branded him someone who was ‘not necessarily, you know, a full basket, umm at the picnic’.
The term often means someone is mentally unstable or mentally ill.
He also claimed she told fans on the live that he is a ‘stalker’ who is ‘one sandwich short of a picnic’ and allegedly made reference to him living on welfare assistance.
The news outlet has reported Tameer is seeking $5 million (£3.78m) in damages for for reputational harm, emotional distress and financial loss.
At the time of publishing, Nicki has not responded to the filing.
This isn’t the rapper’s first embroiled in legal dramas. In March, she and her husband were ordered by a Los Angeles judge to pay a security guard $500,000 after Kenneth allegedly attacked the man backstage, leaving him with a broken jaw.
The alleged incident took place during a 2019 concert Nicki performed in Frankfurt Germany.
Kenneth is a convicted felon after a court found him guilt of a 1994 rape in New York. Upon his release, he failed to register as a sex offender in California and was sentenced to three years of probation.
Just last year, he again found himself in legal drama after he ‘was recorded on video making threatening remarks towards a specific individual while in the company of someone with a criminal record’, resulting in a judge sentencing him to up to 120 days of house arrest.
Nicki and Kenneth have a four-year-old son. They refer to the child as Papa Bear, but it is unknown if that is the little boy’s legal name.
