Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arrived in the city of Cali, southwest Colombia, on August 18 for the fourth and final day of their tour in the South American country.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared to be in high spirits as they were welcomed by the locals of the vibrant city, most famous for its dancing and street parties, particularly for rumba and salsa, as well as its colourful parades.

In the city, Harry and Meghan took part in a forum focused on highlighting and uplifting Afro-Colombian women, during which the Duchess of Sussex delivered a speech.

Upon arriving at the Municipal Theatre in Cali, Meghan was all smiles as she donned a white sleeveless blouse and colourful skirt. Prince Harry wore a light-blue shirt without a tie.

After being ushered to their front-row seats, Meghan and Harry sat next to Colombia’s vice president Francia Marquez.

As the event kicked off, Meghan and Harry were spotted listening to the discussion through an earpiece translating the panellists, with the duchess nodding her head at times.

Upon taking to the centre stage for her speech, Meghan stunned the audience by speaking in Spanish. Her speech included tributes to her daughter, Princess Lilibet Diana, of whom the duchess said to be “so proud”, and her mother, Doria Ragland, who was described by the duchess as her main inspiration.

Speaking about her daughter, Meghan said Lili has already “found her voice”.

The forum isn’t the only engagement on the couple’s schedule as, later today, the Sussexes are expected to meet with young people from the Pacific region.

Sunday wraps up the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s quasi-royal tour of Colombia.

The couple were invited by the country’s vice president after she saw their documentary on Netflix, Harry & Meghan, and heard about the duchess’s life story which deeply touched her.

During a press conference on the first day of the tour, Ms Marquez, the first black woman in the country to hold the position of vice president, opened up about the reason behind the couple’s invitation.

She said: “How did I get to know Meghan and Harry? I first encountered them through the media, and I particularly watched the Netflix series about their lives and their story, which deeply moved me. It motivated me to say, ‘This is a woman who deserves to visit our country and share her story,’ and undoubtedly, her visit will strengthen so many women around the world.”

The Sussexes have had a full security detail during their visit in Colombia.

Harry and Meghan stepped back from their royal duties in early 2020 and no longer travel at the request of the UK Government on official overseas royal visits.
