Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman put on a very amorous display as they share passionate kiss against a car while filming scenes for remake of Hollywood classic War Of The Roses

Must read

Sparks were flying in Devon between Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman as the actors filmed a very amorous scene together for their new film.

The two British acting titans were seen passionately kissing against a car for The Roses – a remake of the 1989 classic film The War of the Roses.

Oscar winning star Olivia, 50, wrapped her arms around her handsome co-star, 47, as he lifted her up onto the car bonnet while they locked lips for the scene filmed in June.

They are following in the footsteps of Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner, whose chemistry blazed through the screen in the original movie.

Benedict and Olivia play a married couple whose increasingly bitter separation explodes into comically exaggerated resentment and hatred.

Playing the role of Ivy, Olivia sported a short bob with a fringe and a denim jacket over a pink shirt and casual green trousers.

While Benedict, in his role as Theo, wore a navy blue cardigan layered on top of a collared shirt and dark jeans, as he wrapped an arm around Olivia.

The crew could be seen surrounding the pair with various lighting and sound equipment, with several cameras pointed to catch all the action.

The duo didn’t hesitate to get into character, as they shared several increasingly raunchy smooches as they rolled over the hood of the car.

At one particularly ardent point, Benedict crouched to the ground between Olivia’s legs and grabbed her by the hips.

But while filming the intimate moment, the actress threw her head back in amusement as she burst into laughter.

The two movie stars were spotted first filming for their latest project in June at North Sands Beach in Salcombe.

The remake, called simply The Roses, is being directed by Jay Roach, who previously worked on the Austin Powers comedies, and scripted by Poor Things writer Tony McNamara.

The new version of the classic movie has been described as a ‘re-imagining’ of the original, but will once again be based on Warren Adler’s 1981 novel.

The synopsis says: ‘Life seems easy for picture-perfect couple Theo and Ivy: successful careers, great kids, an enviable sex life.

‘But underneath the facade of the perfect family is a tinderbox of competition and resentments that’s ignited when Theo’s professional dreams come crashing down.’

Benedict will also produce the film through his SunnyMarch company, alongside Olivia with her South of the River Productions partners Ed Sinclair and Tom Carver.

Speaking about the project, Searchlight president Matthew Greenfield said: ‘The Roses is a wildly funny, bigger than life, and yet deeply human story.

‘With Jay at the helm, and Benedict and Olivia and Tony, we have a dream team bringing it to life’.
