The proposals for new cycling infrastructure on a busy South Belfast road have been revealed as they go to public consultation.
The Department for Infrastructure has revealed plans for new cycle lanes on the Ravenhill Road and is asking the public to decide which ones they prefer.
Two options have been put forward for the consultation, a ‘with flow’ option that will see cycle lanes placed at either side of the road and a ‘two way’ option that will see a large cycle lane installed on the Cherryvale side of the road that will allow cyclists to ride in both directions.

A consultation event was held at Ravenhill Presbyterian Church Hall on May 14, where members of the public had the opportunity to view the plans and give feedback to department officers.
Lisnasharragh Green Party councillor Brian Smyth said that he was very pleased with the turnout on Tuesday and said that he believes the two way option is the best route going forward.
He said: “It was great to see a steady flow of people attending the consultation to look at both options. There is a real appetite from many local residents to transform the Ravenhill Rd into an active travel corridor for south east Belfast.
“Both options have their merits, but I would favour the two lane segregation option on both sides of the road. There is no reason not to be ambitious in our thinking and also the two lane option offers greatest protection for cyclists, in relation to travelling in the same direction as traffic.”
