Good Morning Britain fans ‘switch’ off over Katie Price coverage

Must read

Good Morning Britain lost viewers this morning as fans complained about “switching off” from the ITV show. Kate Garraway and Rob Rinder were at the helm of the breakfast programme as they woke the nation up to some of the top headlines.

One big news story this morning (August 9) was former glamour model Katie Price being remanded in custody last night. The mum-of-five was arrested after a warrant was issued for her detention when she failed to attend court proceedings last month.

A Met Police spokesperson confirmed to Express.co.uk: “A 46-year-old woman from Surrey was arrested at Heathrow Airport at 19:45hrs on Thursday, 8 August for failing to appear at court.

She has been remanded in custody at a west London police station to a to appear at the Royal Courts of Justice tomorrow , Friday, 9 August.”

As Kate and Rob discussed the matter, and the ITV show had a banner with the news on across the bottom of the screen, fans at home fumed. Taking to X/Twitter, one viewer announced that they would no longer be watching, as they wrote: “No balance again .. had to switch channel #GMB.”

A second complained, as they posted: “Oh no. Ricky Jones was mentioned for 3 seconds 77 mins into the show what is one of the most appalling stories ever, that eviscerates Tommy Robinson and Nigel Farageis part of a weekly round up and now back to Katie Price main story. All #gmb has is the 60 + year old viewers.”

“@GMB going by the scrolling headlines at the bottom of the screen, it seems the arrest of Katie Price is more newsworthy than that of Ricky Jones. #GMB,” a third penned.

While another person asked: “Why do #gmb give Plastic Katie Price Airtime??” followed with a shrugging shoulders emoji.

The reality star is battling a £760,000 unpaid tax bill after being declared bankrupt for a second time in March. Katie, 45, was due to give evidence about her finances at the High Court on July 30, but failed to show up – after allegedly jetting off to Turkey to undergo more plastic surgery.

Meanwhile, ITV fans were outraged that Good Morning Britain didn’t touch more on the topic of Ricky Jones. Metropolitan Police confirmed yesterday that a man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of encouraging murder and for an offence under the Public Order Act.

The arrest comes after Labour councillor Ricky Jones was filmed calling for far-Right protesters to have their throats cut. Mr Jones was promptly sacked by the Labour Party when it became aware of the clip.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX
