Samsung may have confirmed some seriously bad news for Galaxy S24 owners

Must read

Samsung’s latest Galaxy S24 range of smartphones are some of the best Android devices of 2024. Thanks to a new design, smart Galaxy AI features, great cameras and powerful performance there’s little not to like and it’s hardly surprising that they’ve been a hit with consumers. You can read our full Galaxy S24 review here.

However, if you’ve just splashed out on one of the super-premium call makers there could be some bad news coming soon.

As spotted by the eagle-eyed team at SamMobile, it appears a Galaxy S24 FE could be on its way and might offer a much cheaper way of owning a S24 device.

For those unaware, Samsung has a habit of launching Fan Edition (FE) phones a number of months after the flagship models get their debut.

These FE models get slightly lower specs but also cheaper prices which make owning them far more affordable.

For example, the Galaxy S23 was priced at £849 at launch but the Galaxy S23 FE only costs £599 – that’s over £200 less.

Although there’s no actual photo or product listing for this device, a model named SM-S721B could be seen on a support page of Samsung’s French website (it’s since been removed).

This code has been linked to the S24 FE in benchmarking tests with SamMobile saying the fact it’s now appeared on the official Samsung platform hints that a launch could be imminent.

Release dates for the FE models vary but they often arrive at the end of the year so hopefully we’ll find out full details soon. Rumours suggest that the S24 FE will get the same Exynos 2400 that powers the flagship variants in the UK.

It might also get a display with thinner bezels and a decent triple-lens camera, A less premium plastic-style design might feature in a bid to cut costs and it’s unlikely to get all of the bells and whistles that come packed inside its pricier siblings.

Full details could come soon but watch this space.

It’s certainly going to be a busy few months for phone launches.

Google has confirmed that its new Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold will launch next week and it’s almost certain that Apple’s iPhone 16 range will launch this September.
