New Helldivers 2 leak gives us a first in-game look at The Illuminate

The Illuminate has been teased to be coming to Helldivers 2 for many months and players are eager for the third faction to make an appearance. It looks like we may have a while longer to wait, but there is new information including in-game leaks that give us a look at what the new enemies will look like when we’re serving them sweet cups of Liber-tea.

Prominent Helldivers 2 leaker IronS1ghts took to Reddit to share some new leaks that show what The Illuminate will look like in-game, as well as new information regarding missions and weapons.

There was a recent leak that revealed that an enemy called the Observer will be tracking players during missions ahead of The Illuminate coming to Helldivers 2. Once they do make their presence known, the Observers will still be looking for players and will then alert The Illuminate to attack you, with IronS1ghts saying that they “Likely to stay the same, fires lightning, dodges pretty well. Once it spots you, It sounds an alarm to attract other Illuminate.”

IronS1ghts then gave more information on an enemy that has been named ‘Guy’ while we wait for its official name saying that they “Can equip two (possibly three?) weapons: Lightspear, Axe, possibly the “SquidGun.” It has dedicated combos for melee weapons and this one can dodge too.”

A previous leak revealed the Dark Fluid Harvester, which is the same thing that players harvested ahead of the black hole event when Meridia was destroyed. This new leak gave new information saying it “Shoots a giant beam into the ground to harvest dark fluid” and seems to be a large objective, which means that it will likely be a mission-type that is exclusive to The Illuminate.

When asked by players when he thinks that The Illuminate will finally come to Helldivers 2, IronS1ghts revealed that “While The Illuminate themselves may be close to completion, the devs still seem to have a lot planned until The Illuminate. It may still be a while longer until we fully see them.” Many players are speculating that they could come to Helldivers 2 on the anniversary of the game’s release in February 2025, while others think that they could appear during Liberty Day on October 26th.

While it may be a while before we see The Illuminate come to the game, there are still the Automatons and Terminids to contend with. The latest Major Order calls for players to eradicate 1.5 billion enemies from the galaxy, and if the community fails then they will be rewarded with the Anti-Tank Mines, and for some reason, they really don’t want them. In addition to this Major Order, next week is set to be the most important since the game launched as Helldivers 2 will see the Escalation of Freedom update on August 6th, followed by the Freedom’s Flame Warbond on August 8th. This also comes after the game has seen an uptick in players, with an 88% increase over the past two weeks when compared to its lowest point ever.
