Samsung Revives Major Galaxy Z Fold 6 Promotion Worth $1,500

Must read

Samsung has revived its biggest promotion this year just weeks after the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 launched.

The deal knocks up to $1500 off the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, or up to $800 off the Z Flip 6. That combines enhanced trade-in prices, a double storage offer we have seen before, and one year free of Samsung Care +.

Samsung has rolled out the double storage offer a few times this year, for both its foldable range and Galaxy S24 line-up. In short, it means buyers can pick up the 512GB model for the price of the 256GB version, or the 1TB option for the price of the 512GB model. For the Fold 6 that knocks the price of the 512GB model down to $1899.99 from $2019.99.

The trade-in prices are where real savings can be made. Samsung has offered some generous valuations for older tech in recent promotions, including $650 for the S22 Ultra, $500 for the S21 Ultra and even $400 for the S20 Ultra, the latter being a four-year-old phone. Those valuations are back for this new promotion, alongside some other good prices for older tech when buying the Fold 6.

  • Galaxy Z Fold 4 – $1000
  • Galaxy Z fold 3 – $900
  • Galaxy Z Flip 4 – $600
  • Galaxy S21 Ultra – $500
  • Google Pixel 5 – $450
  • Apple iPhone 12 Pro – $600
  • Apple iPhone X – $550
  • Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max – $900

The highest valuation is saved for the Galaxy Z Fold 5, with the iPhone 15 Pro Max not far behind at $1000. Neither is worth trading in because they’re new phones that have several years of updates left.

If, however, you have an old iPhone 12 Pro kicking around and you’re in the market for the Fold, $600 is a good price. For context, that’s more than a refurbished version is selling for right now on Amazon ($368.53).

The enhanced trade-in prices are clearly a winner for Samsung because the Korean company has repeatedly run this promotion over the last year. Redditors on the Galaxy Fold sub have been impressed with the prices for their old handsets, but many have also pointed out the discrepancy in pricing between regions.

“£390 for a Fold 4 in the U.K. The reason not to upgrade.” One poster said. “That’s €320 for a flawless Fold 4 in Portugal. Which I paid €2000 for less than 2 years ago…that’s some hardcore depreciation Samsung.” Another complained.

The Samsung U.K. site isn’t running an enhanced trade-in deal right now (however there is a £150 cashback offer for several Galaxy devices), but the difference in values is still clear. For example, the Fold 4 will net £330, which is $422.61, compared to a massive $1000 in the U.S.

Deals, promotions and prices will vary throughout the year in different markets. Samsung has run discounts, or given away big freebies, to U.K. customers only this year. But the eye-wateringly high trade-in prices appear to be reserved for U.S. shoppers only.
