Huw Edwards could be stripped of Baftas

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta) is considering stripping a number of awards from Huw Edwards after he pleaded guilty to viewing images of child sexual abuse.

The academy said that it is reviewing the honours previously bestowed on Edwards “given the seriousness of this abhorrent crime”.

Several universities have also indicated that they will cut ties with the former BBC newsreader after he admitted viewing 41 indecent images of children, some as young as seven.

Edwards, 62, entered three guilty pleas to making indecent images of children during a hearing at Westminster magistrates court on Wednesday.
