Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold to come with nicer screens, different aspect ratios

Must read

At its upcoming hardware launch event on August 13, Google will announce the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Details about the first three of those have leaked earlier today, and so now it’s time to direct our attention towards Google’s second foldable smartphone.

According to a new rumor purportedly originating with “a source inside Google”, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will have a different aspect ratio compared to its predecessor, with a taller, narrower cover display and an almost square folding screen.

As you can see in the image above, the new model is rumored to come with an 8-inch 2,152×2,076 120 Hz inner screen with 1,600-nit peak HDR brightness, while the outer display will be a 6.24-inch 1,080×2,424 one with 120 Hz refresh rate and 1,800-nit peak HDR brightness.

That makes both of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s screens larger and brighter than the ones in the original Pixel Fold. And while the aspect ratio has changed, it looks like the inner screen is still ever so slightly wider than it is tall, which means apps might still automatically enter landscape mode when you unfold this device, just like they do for its predecessor.

Like the other Pixel 9s, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is expected to feature Google’s new Tensor G4 SoC, and will definitely be AI-infused left and right.
