Solar panels have been installed at Windsor Castle and the state Bentleys converted to run on biofuel, as the latest sovereign grant report reveals a focus on the King’s green credentials.
Historic gas lanterns at Buckingham Palace have also been switched off and a plan is under way to install heat pumps at Windsor.
Sir Michael Stevens, keeper of the privy purse described the new developments as “small steps, but part of a much wider plan to make a significant impact on our carbon emissions in the years ahead.”
