Divorcee owed £750,000 wants ex-husband and his mother jailed

A woman who was given £1.73 million in a divorce award is aiming to have her former husband and his 80-year-old mother jailed for failing to pay up.

Richard Rothschild, 49, a mobile phone entrepreneur who adopted the name of the world’s best-known banking family, set off a court battle with his ex-wife and business partner, Charmaine De Souza, 50, by moving a Playboy model into their £2.3 million marital flat.

In 2019, a High Court judge allocated de Souza assets worth £1.73 million, while Rothschild was left with £634,000.

But Rothschild argued that debts meant his share was in effect worthless and in 2020 he began a failed attempt to have the award increased.
