Microsoft’s final non-backwards compatible Xbox 360 sale is a big disappointment

Must read

With the Xbox 360 store closing soon, Microsoft’s third and final non-backwards compatible Xbox 360 sale has now, apparently, gone live. Unfortunately, it appears that no new discounts have been added.

Final non-backwards compatible Xbox 360 sale doesn’t include any new discounts

As per an updated Xbox Wire article, Microsoft has now combined “all of the sales into a single table which reflects every update from May 14, June 19, and now July 16.” Microsoft also adds that this is “expected” to be the last time it will be updating this list of games.

However, from what we can tell, no new games outside of the 150+ non-backwards compatible Xbox 360 games on sale that we’ve already picked up here on TrueAchievements have been added. It seems that Microsoft has tacked on the handful of non-backwards compatible Activision Xbox 360 games that were randomly discounted on June 25 and called time. Perhaps those Activision discounts weren’t supposed to go live until today?

At this stage, we’re not sure if it’s a mistake from Microsoft or if this truly is the final update. We’re hoping that the table hasn’t been updated properly (much like last month) and that more discounted games will show up later today. If not, then this third and final sale update is a big disappointment for those hoping to fill out their digital 360 libraries before the store closure.

While there might be any newly discounted games to salivate over, Microsoft has released a new Xbox 360 dynamic background that features the popular Blades interface for Series X|S consoles and has announced that the Xbox 360 Heritage Collection on the Xbox Gear Shop is coming back for a limited time. While these are nice, I’m sure many Xbox 360 fans would have preferred more discounted 360 titles.
