Footage taken from the crowd shows two snipers on a rooftop to Trump’s right, with rifles on tripods pointing in the direction of Crooks.
The sniper nearest to the camera, who is kneeling and looking through his telescopic sight, appears to be looking straight at Crooks’s position, but lifts his head from the gunsight at the precise moment the first shot from Crooks is heard.
He instantly bobs his head back down to the gun sight and pulls the gun slightly towards himself to take aim, but Crooks manages to fire off three shots in the space of two seconds before the snipers manage to return fire.
Two seconds after the last of the three shots is fired by Crooks, the snipers fire off five shots in rapid succession in less than a second.
In another video, a member of the public has a camera trained on Crooks as he fires his rifle. There is a scream, and a woman can be heard shouting “Ross, get over here!”
The five shots from the sniper position sound like corks popping, and a man says: “He’s turning this way, be careful.”
Thirty seconds after the shots, a woman says: “Someone got shot. He’s right there, laying down.” A man says: “What the f— is going on?” A man with a gravelly voice says: “Dude, that’s exactly why we need f—ing Trump here.”
