Five people have been killed and at least 20 others were left injured after a “packed” cafe was bombed while Euro fans watched the match between England and Spain.

A car full of explosives was set alight before a fireball blew up, local reports suggest.


The horror attack unfolded in Mogadishu, Somalia while football fans watched the Euro 2024 final.

The bomb destroyed 10 cars and damaged several buildings nearby in a well-guarded area near the Presidential Palace.

Local media say there are at least five people are dead and 20 injured.

One witness said: “Some of the spectators got injured while trying to jump the perimeter wall of the cafe.

“And others got wounded in a stampede.”

Fans inside the cafe had been watching the England v Spain match when disaster struck.

Al Shabaab militants claimed responsibility for the attack on an affiliated radio station, saying the bombing targeted a place where security and government workers meet at night.

It comes as Mogadishu has remained mostly peaceful in recent months.

The Islamist group has been fighting for years to impose its strict interpretation of Islam on Somalia.

Patrons were watching the final of the Euro 2024 football tournament on TV, police said.

England became the first team to ever lose back-to-back Euros finals.

Winger Mikel Oyarzabal scored the winning goal to put Spain ahead at 2-1.
