Arne Slot says Klopp’s promise has already come true after one week at Liverpool

Must read

New Liverpool boss Arne Slot has revealed one of Jurgen Klopp’s outgoing promises to the Dutchman has already come true. Klopp promised the Dutchman he would enjoy working with the group of players he had left Slot. And speaking on Friday, the new Reds boss confirmed Klopp was right.

Slot was officially named the Reds head coach on June 1, and he is currently overseeing pre-season training at the AXA Training Centre in Kirby. The former Feyenoord manager signed a three-year deal to replace Klopp, who stepped down at the end of last season.

And it appears one of the German’s promises to Slot has already come true. While there are a number of Liverpool players still in action for their countries, a host of the Reds squad has already reported for pre-season training.

“I am enjoying it [working with his new players] a lot,” Slot said. “The boys are full of energy. Jurgen and Pep told me last season that I am going to enjoy working with them and they haven’t lied at all.

“The youngsters coming from the academy have the same intensity and the guys are all open to learning. The way I see and feel it, they enjoyed it as well!

“I am seeing the quality. Most of the players here at the moment are coming from the Under-21s and I have to give them a compliment because they are full of energy, like to press and counter-press. They have been taught very well. And the ones who are here from the first team are setting the right example. It has been a joy to work with them in the first week.”
