‘Fight’ – Olmo reveals transfer clause which puts Arsenal and Liverpool on alert

Must read

Dani Olmo has put his suitors on red alert after revealing his £50.5million RB Leipzig release clause expires in just eight days’ time.

The versatile Spanish attacker is currently leading the charge to win the Euro 2024 golden boot – so it’s no surprise that a number of Premier League teams are monitoring him.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Barcelona are among the European giants keen to sign Olmo, who netted three goals this summer for La Roja in their run to the Euro 2024 final against England this Sunday.

He’s also been linked with Manchester City and Manchester United.

Now, the 26-year-old has dropped a huge hint about his future, as he suggested clubs will likely enter a tough transfer battle to sign him this summer should they not make their move before the clause expires.

Addressing reports of a possible €60m release fee that runs out on July 20, he told Spanish radio show El Larguero: “Yes, they [interested clubs] already know what to do.

When the interviewer then suggested it would be ‘easier’ to sign the Spain star before than date than later in the summer, Olmo replied: “That’s it. Otherwise they’ll have to fight a little later. Exactly.”

Since signing for RB Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb in 2020, the former Barcelona youth star has played 148 games for the Bundesliga outfit.

He’s netted 29 goals in that time, as well as bagging 34 assists.

Speaking to Spanish outlet Cadena SER about Leipzig and a potential move being on the cards, he said: “I’m not worried.

Olmo has won the German Cup twice with Leipzig

“I have my people who take care of everything. I have too much to do with the Euros to think about other things.

“Especially now with the final ahead. I don’t have anything else on my mind.”

Olmo’s current contract with Leipzig runs until June 2027, a deal he extended last June.

Asked if he fancies a change of scenery and possible change of clubs after fours years in Leipzig, he said: “We’ll see. I have a contract with RB Leipzig. It’s not something I think about.

“The people I trust already know my opinion and what I want to do. That’s the only thing that matters.”

“All I want is to win and keep winning,” he continued. “I said that when I renewed my contract. They wanted to make a winning project and that is why I renewed. I want to win titles.

“So we will see, In the end, we [he and Leipzig] have a very good relationship, both with the coach and with the sporting management, so there won’t be any problems.”
