Another youngster’s first professional contract has been confirmed at Leeds United with the signature of Connor Douglas. The 18-year-old has signed a two-year deal at Elland Road.

Douglas has been used on both flanks in the under-18 and under-21 sides at Thorp Arch as a winger. Douglas’s most memorable contribution last season came with the winner in the Premier League 2 victory over Manchester United.

A club statement said: “Leeds United are pleased to announce Connor Douglas has signed his first professional contract with the club. The 18-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, keeping him at Elland Road until 2026.

“An electric winger comfortable on either flank, Douglas has featured both for the Whites’ under-18s and under-21s teams. The attacker was notably on target for the under-21s in last season’s Premier League 2 victory over Manchester United, grabbing what would prove to be the winner in a 2-1 success at Old Trafford.

“The club would like to congratulate Connor on signing a first professional contract and we look forward to seeing his development at Thorp Arch.”

Over the course of this week, Leeds have confirmed five maiden professional deals for scholars like Douglas. Reuben Lopata-White, Joe Richards, Dan Toulson and Marley Wilson have already been announced.

There have also been new deals for out-of-contract assets like Harry Christy, Joe Snowdon and Luca Thomas. Cody Drameh is yet to accept his offer, while Jamie Shackleton has left on a free and Liam Cooper’s future remains unresolved more than a week after he became a free agent.
