Quitting your job doesn’t have to be a headache.

At some point, you might feel the need to leave your current role. It could be due to a lack of passion for your work and a desire for a career change, or perhaps you’ve snagged a better opportunity elsewhere. Job-hopping isn’t rare in today’s corporate landscape. But how do you resign without causing trouble at your current workplace?

If you’ve had a rough patch, it might be tempting to give a piece of your mind before handing in your notice, but hold off if you’re hoping for a stellar reference from your soon-to-be ex-employer. And if you’ve enjoyed your stint, you wouldn’t want to accidentally imply it’s your boss’s fault you’re moving on.

A careers guru has come to the rescue with a no-drama method to bow out from any position – and it’s all about crafting the perfect resignation email.

Erin McGoff took to TikTok to share an email blueprint that promises a smooth exit from any job, ensuring you part ways with your employer on good terms.

Her TikTok video didn’t beat around the bush – it displayed the email template while showing Erin at her desk, ready to tackle the next challenge.

The universal template she suggests goes: “Hello [manager name]. I’m writing to notify you I have made the decision to resign from my position as [role] and my last day will be [date]. I appreciate the opportunity to work here, and have learned a lot in this role.

“[If you liked your boss/experience, write some kind words here]. I wish you continued success in the future! Thank you, [your name].”
