This Morning star Matthew Wright has been rushed to hospital for the second time in 48 hours after suffering ‘off the scale’ neck pain.

The presenter, 59, was due to be moving house on Wednesday but took too social media to share that he had been experiencing pain.

After an early morning trip to hospital that day, Matthew was given pain relief and hailed his NHS experience, before being discharged in the afternoon.

However after a night of resting at home and optimistic messages of recovery, Matthew found himself back in A&E on Thursday morning.

Having been taken back in an ambulance, Matthew revealed on Thursday afternoon that he was awaiting scans to see what was causing his pain – which he described as ‘off the scale’.

Excited about his move, Matthew took to X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday to share a photo of himself with boxes.

He captioned the snap: ‘Packing all done, two days non stop but I’m ready to go! Thought I’d be more emotional after 23 years here but no which means it really is time to say goodbye and go the full Worzel after so many years dithering. A new dawn for me tomorrow x.’

But the next morning at 6am, Matthew shared an update saying: ‘Turns out my bad neck is actually quite bad.

‘Indebted to paramedics Steph and Miko for getting me to hospital and dealing with worst of pain. Doesn’t look like I’ll be moving house today.

‘2 shots of morphine so far, one diazepam, 1000mg paracetemol and it’s not even 7am #BreakfastOfChampions.’

He added: ‘Having an absolutely first class @nhs experience thus far.’

Having been discharged after receiving care, Matthew again updated his followers, writing: ‘Home! Thanks @uclh thanks @nhs and thanks again Steph and Miko the paramedics who were just amazing and ta too for all your good wishes.

‘It was quite a night! Got to rest up a while and keep taking the meds hopefully all will be good.’

Early Thursday morning saw Matthew appear optimistic about his recovery following his hospital stint.

He said: ‘Slept some in a chair and have definitely improved enough to lie down for a bit. Me and the family quite overwhelmed by your kindness and concern. Thanks so much x.’

He also thanked City Removals for taking control of the house move while he as in hospital and doing ‘99%’ of what he needed done without him there. He also thanked his wife for her support.

‘One more day of rest and I reckon I’ll be good to go again!’ Matthew added.

But later that morning at 10.50am, Matthew shared that he may have been too confident about the amount of rest he needed.

‘I’m thinking one more day rest is a little ambitious,’ he said.

And in a worrying update at 3.50pm, Matthew revealed he had returned to hospital, having been taken there by ambulance.

He said: ‘Back in hospital, another ambulance, pain off the scale. Scans and stuff next.’

It comes after Matthew revealed in May that watching Baby Reindeer brought back memories of his own traumatic stalking ordeal.

Michelle Ranicar was given a restraining order in December 2020 after stalking the TV presenter and his wife Amelia between 2018 until 2019

The so-called ‘superfan’ was said to have repeatedly visited Matthew’s home in Primrose Hill, London, bearing gifts and messages declaring her love for him and taunted his wife over stillbirths and threatened to snatch their child.

And after the success of Netflix phenomenon Baby Reindeer, the National Stalking Helpline has reported there’s been a 47% rise in the number of calls to stalking helplines.

Speaking about his own terrifying stalker ordeal and the increase in calls to the helpline, Matthew told Lorraine on Wednesday: ‘I have such mixed feelings about this show. But, that’s a positive.
