Singer-actress-entrepreneur Rita Ora on shoes, shades and shopping addictions

Must read

Rita Ora is cool personified, and so it’s no surprise that all of her projects revolve around style, one way or another. The video for her infectious single, “Ask and You Shall Receive” is an updated homage to a sexy Levi’s commercial from 1985 — complete with Ora donning red Gerber Daisy petal-like lashes and scarlet lipstick, shot in the same laundromat as “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and directed by her husband Taika Waititi

She brought her A-plus fashion game as a judge on season 11 of “The Masked Singer” (and she’ll be returning for season 12 on Fox this fall). Her hair line, TypeBea, which launched in April, after three painstaking years in the making, is a true labor of love. And the Albanian Brit’s latest Primark collection is inspired by Glastonbury and Coachella festivals. “The clothes are ethereal, nostalgic, and freeing,” Ora, 33, tells Alexa. “The pieces tap into that boho-chic look and feature big ruffles, sheer dresses, and statement accessories.”

Next, Ora will be playing the wickedly fabulous Queen of Hearts in “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” which premieres on Disney+ July 12. ”Playing a bit of a villain turned out to be even more fun than I thought it would be, and the costumes were out of this world!” says the “Don’t Think Twice” singer.

The multi-hyphenate’s closet has pops of bold colors and Berkins, but she admits she might have a teensy addiction to buying sneakers and band tees, as they both have their own extensive sections in her walk-in. The star likes the mix of high and low in all things, including the below.

“With TypeBea, it was important for me and my partner, Anna Lahey, to create hair care products that made your hair feel like it’s getting the attention it deserves. I love using this mask on my hair after a long day to really hydrate it and keep it feeling healthy. It’s got all the ingredients you could want – biometric ceramide to reduce breakage and split ends, hyaluronic acid for deep hydration, argon oil for shine, and shea butter to infuse moisture and protect your hair.”

“Home fragrance is something that I take very seriously, and I’m a sucker for anything that’s vanilla scented, so I love having the house covered with this candle from Diptyque to make it feel extra cozy. Something about it just feels like a soft, warm hug.”

“It’s the perfect embodiment of what we wanted to achieve with this collection, as it mixes this boho-chic energy with a vintage,  effortless feel. It pairs really well with a lot of different tops, but my go-to is a classic white tank.”

“I worked with Shani (who is amazing) to prep for the Met Gala this year and she was kind enough to let me take home one of these face sculpting wands after, and it’s easily become my new favorite part of my skin care routine. It’s perfect for those early mornings before work or when your skin is just needing that extra boost of confidence.”

“I try to read any chance I get, and I’m always looking for the next best book. This is my current obsession. It follows the disappearance of two young women, except the story is told in reverse, which makes it all the more gripping. It’s a thrilling read and one that’s had me on the edge of my seat ever since I picked it up.”

“One of the best pieces of beauty advice I received was to never leave the house without your favorite lip gloss, and this new gloss from Charlotte Tilbury has become my latest go-to. I love the balance between the pink and nude shades. It gives just enough color to elevate a look, but subtle enough to go with a variety of looks. It truly makes my lips feel like a pillow.”

“I carry this with me everywhere I go, because it’s light, fresh and perfect for day or night!”

“Tequila has always been my go-to drink, so I love that I get to be part of this incredible industry and help create a quality spirit that not only I can enjoy, but also share with the rest of the world. Out of the three expressions we have, I tend to go for the Añejo which is perfect for sipping over ice.”

“Anyone who knows me knows I’m an avid Pilates person. Kirsten King, who is the founder of Fluidform Pilates, was generous enough to gift this set to me, and it’s been a real game-changer — especially when I’m traveling and don’t have time to get to a Pilates class. I’ll just throw the Magic circle or ankle weights in my bag, so I can stay active on the road.”

“This is definitely more of a treat-yourself moment, but I use this bag every day whether I’m running to the gym or heading to the studio. It’s large enough to fit anything you could ever want to throw in a bag —  from workout clothes to a picnic blanket to your entire skin care routine!”

“I love anything that Marni designs. They dressed me for the Met Gala this year, and they were so amazing to work with! For summer, I always love a good pop of color, and these clogs have quickly become my go-to summer slip-on shoe.”

“Sunglasses are like shoes to me – you can never have too many! I love the oversized look, and I’m a big fan of a light tinted lens”.

“Between all the traveling I do, it’s so important for me to stay up on my supplements and vitamins so that I’m staying as healthy as I can. These Vitamin C packets are a life-saver and help give that extra boost to the immune system.”
