Kylian Mbappe appeared to have swapped shirts at half-time

France captain Kylian Mbappe appeared to swap shirts with a Spain player at half-time during their Euro 2024 semi-final clash.

Mbappe was pictured shirtless in the tunnel and holding what seemed to be a red Spain shirt, leading fans to believe he had swapped his with an opposition player despite the game not being over.

“Mbappe obviously given up as changes shirt with Spain player in the tunnel at half time , probably the young 16 year old [goalscorer Lamine Yamal] I bet,” wrote one fan. Another fumed: “Mbappe is the most overrated player going! Then at half time swaps shirts with a Spain player!!!”

“Did I just see Mbappe in the tunnel with a Spain shirt,” a third football fan wrote. “Swapping at half time. F*** this generation man!!” A fourth added: “Embarrassing from Mbappé swapping shirts at half time”.

France were losing at half-time and were ultimately knocked out thanks to goals from Yamal and Dani Olmo. Mbappe helped France take an early lead, with Randal Kolo Muani heading home his cross in the eighth minute.

However, Spain hit back with a stunning long-range strike from Yamal, who became the youngest-ever goalscorer at a major international tournament in the process. Olmo then gave Spain the lead just four minutes later when his shot hit Jules Kounde on its way in.

And there was plenty of praise for Yamal’s goal from the likes of Alan Shearer and Rio Ferdinand. “Just incredible. We’ve been talking about him all tournament and saying what a ridiculously young age it is,” Shearer said on BBC One.
