Angamuthu, a rights holder from Chinna Manali in Salem district, reportedly lost a sum of money in online rummy, leading to debt and ultimately, an act of suicide.

According to close friends and relatives, Angamuthu, burdened by financial losses and debts accrued through his gambling activities, took his own life due to mental suffering.
As reported by Hindu Tamil, Paamak leader Anbumani Ramadoss expressed profound sorrow and called for urgent government intervention to address the escalating crisis of online gambling. “Online gambling turns everyone into slaves,” remarked Angamuthu’s brother, highlighting the urgent need for stringent regulatory measures to curb the rampant spread of online gambling addiction.
The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has long advocated for a complete ban on online gambling, citing its impact on individuals and families across Tamil Nadu.
