Northern Irish holidaymakers should be experts at navigating travel obstacles. In the past few years alone, we’ve had to seek refunds when airlines were grounded during lockdowns, we’ve queued for hours to check in during post-­pandemic staff shortages, and we’ve waited and waited for multiple antigen tests to give us a Covid-free pass to fly.

This year, peak summer travel season continues to present disruptions — thanks to flight cancellations and delays as a result of strikes, plus extreme weather events and wildfires raging across Mediterranean hotspots.
