Roma will be Everton’s opponents for what is set to be the last friendly match ahead of Goodison Park’s historic final season.

Following 133 years at their present home, the first purpose-built football ground in England, and stage of the most top flight matches, Everton are scheduled to start the 2025/26 season at their new 52,888 capacity stadium by the Mersey waterfront at Bramley-Moore Dock.

Everton’s first ever game at Goodison was a friendly against Bolton Wanderers on September 1, 1892, with the hosts recovering from going 2-0 down to triumph 4-2.

For most of the modern era, the Blues have finished their annual pre-season schedule with a game at Goodison Park and following this summer’s trips to Sligo Rovers (July 19), Salford City (July 27), Coventry City (July 30) and Preston North End (August 3), Sean Dyche’s side will take on opponents from Italy’s Serie A, a week before they begin their Premier League campaign at home to Brighton & Hove Albion on August 17.

Roma are heading to England on August 4 to have a training camp at St George’s Park National Football Centre, Burton Upon Trent, the base of the England national team and will complete their trip with the fixture on Merseyside.

Italian publication Corriere dello Sport reports that Everton will play Roma at Goodison Park on Saturday, August 10 with a 4pm kick-off Central European Time (3pm in the UK).
