An online jewellery company has taken the plunge and opened its first shop in the centre of Falmouth.
The Cornwall Jewellery Co now has a base in Church Street, where it offers a range of jewellery as well as in-house repairs, alterations and commissions.
Owner Jos Gibson and his partner Ruth Swales, together with their three daughters, have taken over the shop formerly run by Atlantis Jewels.
Trading online until now, they are looking forward to meeting their customers, and promise: “If you can’t find what you are looking for in store, we can make it!’”
Jos said: “We look forward to welcoming you to our new shop, whether you are a new or returning customer.
“I love a challenge and creating individual, personal pieces of jewellery for people so come down and see what we can make for you.”
Owner Jos will be adding his work to the shelves as well as taking on commissions for all types of jewellery, which will now be available in store as well as online. The shop also offers watch batteries and watch straps.
The Cornwall Jewellery Co also uses the latest technology in jewellery repairs, which they says allows them to offer a much faster turnaround time, and as a result can often offer same day in-house repairs.
Jos is a qualified and experienced jeweller based in Falmouth. He has already been working for several years building up a reputation on his fine handmade jewellery based on word-of-mouth in the local area.
Jos and his family have lived in Falmouth all their lives and are proud to now bring a shop to Falmouth. As well as engagement rings, wedding rings and necklaces, Jos offers bespoke commissions where he works closely with the buyer to craft their ideal piece of jewellery from scratch.
The focus of the business is on using ethically-sourced materials such as lab-grown diamonds.
He said the technology behind these diamonds had “advanced massively”, recently meaning they are chemically, physically and optically identical to a mined diamond whilst being conflict-free and far cheaper for the end user.
The Cornwall Jewellery Company were welcomed to Falmouth by Betty Stogs and Captain Pilchard during the Sea Shanty Festival and Cornwall Jewellery donated a pendant that was auctioned off at the closing of the Sea Shanty, raising £300 for the RNLI.
The shop is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
