Britain’s rapidly rising national treasure Hannah Waddingham stunned British Grand Prix viewers waiting for the race action at Silverstone today – moments after a snub by Queen legend Brian May.
Today the British Grand Prix is being held at Silverstone with a momentous triple British driver lockout at the front of the grid – Brit George Russell is on pole, 7-time champion Lewis Hamilton starts the race in second place while fellow Englishman Lando Norris starts from third for an all-UK front three.
Channel 4, which is broadcasting the entire race live this afternoon, sent Scot/Brit GP winner David Coulthard onto the grid for the famous ‘grid walk’ just before the race began alongside Australian F1 legend Mark Webber.
But there was an awkward moment when the pair stumbled onto Queen guitarist Brian May.
The duo were walking up the grid grabbing quick quotes from some famous faces in attendance including BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2023 winner, Lioness Mary Earps, alongside magician Dynamo and Rowan Atkinson.
But when the pair asked Brian May for a word live on Channel 4, he looked at them, laughed and said ‘no’.
David Coulthard told viewers Brian was “feeling shy despite all those years of rocking.”
Moments later Ted Lasso star and Eurovision host queen Hannah Waddingham stunned viewers with a magnificent rendition of the British national anthem as the Red Arrows screamed overhead.
