Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount has continued his personal preparations for pre-season with his Carrington return around the corner.
The former Chelsea man arrived at Old Trafford last summer for £50m. While his form in the latter days at Stamford Bridge was not as good as expected, it was believed the Englishman would flourish in new surroundings.
Unfortunately for Mount, his season was impacted heavily by injuries. The 25-year-old made just 20 appearances in the last campaign, with two spells in the injury room causing him to miss 27 matches for the Reds.

Thankfully, Mount managed to regain his fitness before the end of 2023/24 and played a brief cameo as United beat Manchester City to win the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium. Having been left out of Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad, the midfielder has had a full summer to recuperate and has clearly been keen to improve his fitness levels.
In his latest post on Instagram, Mount showcased the personal fitness regime he has been undertaking ahead of the new campaign, a clear sign to manager Erik ten Hag that he is eager to return to his plans. His post was ‘liked’ by his teammate Jadon Sancho, who, like Mount, is expected to report to pre-season on Monday, July 8.
Sancho has been persona non grata with Ten Hag since September 2023, when a fallout between the pair played out in public. The United man spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund and featured in the Champions League final.
United’s plan is to sell the winger this summer, with a price tag of £40m placed on him. So far, there has been little suggestion that any club is willing to spend that amount of money on him.
