Turkey are in the ascendancy now, and they win another corner. Calhanoglu with the in-swinger, and it’s headed away. It lands at the feet of Guler, who curls it towards the back post where three Turkish players are arriving. It’s Akaydin who fires it past Verbruggen with the header!

The ball runs to Guler on the right-hand edge of the box and he tries the hopeful effort, clipping it first-time towards the far corner, but it sails over.

It’s a free-kick in a dangerous position for Turkey, with Calhanoglu to deliver again. It’s swung in towards the penalty spot, but Verbruggen punches it away, and the Netherlands end up with a throw.

“All rather loud in Berlin, which is largely the Turkey fans, though they haven’t actually had that much to cheer on the pitch. The Netherlands have been the more ambitious and progressive, with Turkey looking to defend deep and counter-attack.”

Good work from both sides as Guler collects the ball and threads it through to Yilmaz. He’s almost through, but van Dijk does well to recover.
