Sky Sports have apologised to Nottingham Forest after Manchester United icon Gary Neville‘s comments in the wake of their defeat to Everton back in April.

Forest released a furious statement on social media after their 2-0 defeat to the Toffees at Goodison Park, a match in which they were denied three penalties by referee Anthony Taylor, with the on-field decisions backed up by VAR Stuart Atwell.

The Reds wrote on X: “Three extremely poor decisions – three penalties not given – which we simply cannot accept.

“We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times. NFFC will now consider its options.”

Neville was critical of Forest for their reaction when talking on Sky Sports. Forest owner, Evangelos Marinakis, was reportedly angered by Neville’s comments before legal action was launched in May.

The Sky Sports commentator said: “It’s like a mafia gang statement, honestly… what the hell are they playing at?”
