Portuguese police are investigating the alleged rape of a British teenager at a nightclub in Lisbon.
The 19-year-old holidaymaker says a nightclub worker forced himself on her in a back room of the popular Urban Beach dance club along the city’s Tagus River.
The unnamed worker is alleging sex was consensual.Â
Club bosses have announced an internal inquiry while detectives probe the incident.
The alarm was raised just before 5am yesterday morning.
Friends of the British youngster are understood to have called the PSP police force in Lisbon, which has now passed the case on to a specialist unit of the Policia Judiciaria which deals with sex crimes.

The clubber was taken to Sao Jose Hospital in Lisbon for a check-up so she could be examined by a specialist doctor.
A spokeswoman for the PJ police confirmed this morning: ‘We are investigating an alleged rape at a nightclub in Lisbon.’
A well-placed source said: ‘The alleged rape victim is a 19-year-old British woman who appears to have been on holiday in Portugal.’
Paulo Damaso, the nightclub’s general manager, told respected Portuguese daily Correio da Manha: ‘We have already launched an internal inquiry and as part of that inquiry the worker in question will be interviewed.
‘He claims the sexual relationship with the complainant was consensual.
‘Whether that is the case or not it’s something we repudiate for having allegedly occurred within our installations.’
Urban Beach describes itself online as the ‘hottest night club in Lisbon where the party never stops.’
