7 Amazon Prime Subscription Perks You’re Probably Missing Out On

Must read

I was staring at my money spreadsheet (yes I have a money spreadsheet, don’t you?) and trying to decide which subscription service to get rid of (because that Pret membership could be costing me my first home). Stuck, I told my boyfriend I was thinking of culling my Prime membership and he looked at me like I’d gone mad.

It wasn’t until I went on a tour around the Amazon Hype House, set up to promote the upcoming Prime Days (on 16 and 17 July), that I realised what my boyfriend’s glare was all about. Turns out there’s a lot more to a Prime membership than meets the eye, it’s not just about next day delivery — and I bet you’re not using half of them either. I’ve finally seen the true potential of my Prime membership — and thanks to a new deal for 18 to 22 year old and students, it’s just gone down to £5 a month (more on that later).

So now’s your turn to hear me out — you’re not using your Amazon Prime subscription right. I discovered at least seven extra perks that come included in your Prime membership that you need to be taking advantage of, like now.

What is an Amazon Prime Membership?

An Amazon Prime membership is savings, convenience and entertainment all in a single membership. You can access Amazon’s huge selection of goods to order with fast, free delivery (often same or next day) as well as exclusive shopping events, early access to deals, grocery savings, movies, books, games and more.

How Much Does an Amazon Prime Membership Cost?

In the UK, anyone can join Prime for £9 per month or £95 per year, but as an extra special treat for students and young adults, Amazon have just launched a new deal, offering a 50% off Prime membership with a six-month trial at no cost. You can get a six month trial free, then pay £4.49 per month, or get a year for £47.49. This membership only applies for 18 to 22-year-olds.

Amazon Prime Membership Benefits

I’ve just caught the tail end of my 50% membership, but the benefits listed below apply to all Prime subscribers. Keep reading for how I plan on using my membership and how you can too, to unlock the full potential of your subscription.

Watching the new season of The Boys and other Prime shows

Superheroes gone bad? The story of the one and only, Celine Dion? Tudor men turning into horses? You’ll find the weird and the wonderful over on Prime Video.

There’s so much to choose from if you’re planning a movie night in, whether it’s an Amazon Original or a cult classic, there’s probably something for you in the Prime Video vault. Me? I’ll be catching up on the latest series of The Boys.

Shopping my favourite beauty buys with 10% off on Prime Days

I don’t usually do my beauty shopping online, but for the days when I need a quick fix, I know I can rely on my Prime Delivery to get the goods to me as soon as possible. I can shop a number of premium brands, like Olaplex, Caudalie and ColourWow, plus on Prime Days (16 and 17 July, mark your calendars) you can shop with 10% off on fashion and beauty products.

At the moment, I’m in need of a top-up of Kate Sommerville Goat Milk Moisturising Cleanser (£38), and I’d love to try the trending Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm (£49). Finally, so that I’m holiday ready, this Sol de Janiero Jet Set (£30) is perfect for my travel bag.

Blasting Charli XCX’s Brat album for free with Amazon Music

In four days time, this offer comes to an end, so don’t lack on this one. You can enjoy your favourite tunes, whether it’s Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts collection or Charli XCX’s Brat masterpiece, for free on Amazon Music, for not one month, not two months but five whole months.

If you’re not already a Prime member you only get three months of free music.

Saving my pennies with free Deliveroo delivery

Deliveroo delivery prices sending you over the edge? This Prime hack put that to an end and fast. With my membership, I get Deliveroo Plus for a year meaning free delivery on eligible orders over £15.

A little bit saved on delivery goes a long way, changing that small meal to double, stat!

Becoming a cinephile thanks to two for one Odeon tickets

I’ve become a regular at my local Odeon luxe and they must think I’m made of money (it’s extortionate to go to the cinema these days) but it’s actually because I get two for one tickets with my Prime subscription.

Easily one of my favourite perks from the membership, every month I can get access to two cinema tickets for the price of one for any movie showing from Monday to Thursday, so I can spend more money on my cinema snacks.

Browsing the Prime Reading collection for my next holiday read

Thinking of getting a Kindle? Same! Don’t get me wrong, I love a paperback book, but when I saw that, through my Prime membership, I’ve access to a huge collection of Kindle books for free with Prime Reading, I was sold.

Browse a number of titles, from TikTok must-read fantasy novel of the year, The Atlas Six to A Handmaid’s Tale author Margaret Attwood’s new short story Cut and Thirst: A Short Story.

Organising my 5,000 photos using Amazon Photo storage

As a self-confessed hoarder when it comes to my photos and videos, the Amazon Photo Storage is truly a godsend. Gone are the days of transferring old files to a dusty hard drive, in a few simple taps I can move pictures and videos into my Amazon storage.

Interested as to how much storage you get? It’s unlimited — yes you read that right. And you get 5GB for video files.
